Government Makes Rainwater Illegal
Yep, RAIN WATER IS ILLEGAL.
As bizarre as it sounds, I guess it really shouldn’t be a surprise. We have covered numerous stories of how the government has been chipping away at the rights of land. From survival gardens being seized to the land owners in California who are being forced back on to the grid, people’s rights as land owners are being shredded by local, state and federal governments.
In the latest abuse of power, a man in Oregon has been sentenced to 30 days in jail and ordered to pay a $1,500 fine for collecting rainwater on his own land. Gary Harrington was convicted of nine misdemeanor crimes for filling his three man-made reservoirs with rainwater and snow runoff. The state of Oregon claims the water that fell from the sky, is owned by them and the Medford Water Commission.
As unreal as it may sound, at least 9 states have made it illegal to collect rainwater on your own land. Utah, Oregon, Colorado and a number of other states have passed rainwater laws that either limit or all out ban the collection of rainwater.
I keep seeing this and I can’t not think of the show last night

Sector 7G
People give sector such a bad reputation but this place and the people who make up this scene have become like a second family. No matter how much drama and shit talking that happens the people are what makes me love this town even when I hate it.

Susie Cagle’s latest for Grist.org is brilliant. In a series called ‘The Anatomy of Ag-Gag,’ Susie uses her illustrations & multimedia features to show where Ag-Gag has been, or is being introduced, whose responsible, and what you can do about it. Great commentary from Will Potter of Green Is The New Red, a few comments from me, and exclusive content from undercover investigators.

Before the Civil War ended, State “Slave Codes” prohibited slaves from owning guns. States persisted in prohibiting blacks, who were considered “free” after the civil war, from owning guns under laws renamed “Black Codes.” They did so on the basis that blacks were not citizens, and thus did not have rights to defend themsevles with guns. This view was specifically articulated by the U.S. Supreme Court in its infamous 1857 decision in Dred Scott v. Sandford to uphold slavery.
Facially neutral disarming through economic means laws remain in effect today.
After the adoption of the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1878, most States turned to “facially neutral” business or transaction taxes on handgun purchases. However, the intention of these laws was not neutral. An article in Virginia’s official university law review called for a “prohibitive tax” of selling handguns as a way of disarming “the son of Ham.” “Let a negro board a railroad train with whiskey and a pistol in his grip and the chances are that there will be a murder before he alights.” [Comment, Carrying Concealed Weapons, 15 Va L. Reg. 391, 391-92 (1909); George Mason University Civil Rights Law Journal, Vol. 2, No. 1, “Gun Control and Racism,” Stefan Tahmassebi, 1991, p. 75]
Thus, many Southern States imposed high taxes or banned inexpensive guns so as to price blacks and poor whites out of the gun market.
In the 1990s, “gun control” laws continued to be enacted so as to have a racist effect if not intent. Many blacks are arrested to this day for frivolous “gun law violations” and then locked in private prisons. The “war on guns,” like the “war on drugs,” is solely designed to keep undesirable populations defenseless and locked up in prisons.
- Police-issued license and permit laws, unless drafted to require issuance to those not prohibited by law from owning guns, are routinely used to prevent lawful gun ownership among “unpopular” populations.
- Public housing residents, approximately 3 million Americans, are singled out for gun bans.
- “Gun sweeps” by police in “high crime neighborhoods” whereby vehicles and “pedestrians who meet a specific profile that might indicate they are carrying a weapon” are searched are becoming popular, and are being studied by the U.S. Department of Justice as “Operation Ceasefire.”Also, many of California’s current gun laws, which are the strictest in the country, were originally written to disarm the Black Panther Party and Chicano Power movements. In the founding days of the BPP, militants could legally carry weapons such as assault rifles in public as long as they were unloaded. The California gun laws were created to make it practically impossible for poor and black/brown people to legally buy weapons— while the pigs who patrol our hoods are armed to the teeth, and the rich have no problems acquiring weapons.

Police ‘Fend Off’ Hundreds of Hungry People Gathering Free Food, Remainders Tossed Into Garbage
Richmond County sheriff’s officers were called Tuesday to fend off crowds outside an Augusta grocery store hoping to make off with merchandise that had been set out during an eviction.
Officials estimated 200-300 people filled the parking lot at Laney Supermarket after word spread that the Richmond County Marshal’s Office was enforcing an eviction at the business.
Officials said onlookers became angry when they learned they would not be allowed to take away food and other sundries that were piled outside the grocery as “abandoned property.”
The crowd dissipated after a swarm of deputies arrived, along with Sheriff Richard Roundtree, to assist the three marshals who had been initailly assigned to the eviction.
“There is the potential to have people fighting and causing problems,” said Lt. Calvin Chew. “That’s not something we want.”
There were no arrests in the resulting confusion, but groups of people remained to watch the proceedings, many clutching empty bags and grumbling about the situation.
Tiffany Serles said she heard about the eviction from her aunt who lives nearby.
“She said they evicting Gurley’s,” Serles said, referring to the former name of the neighborhood market. “So, I came down here to get some of the stuff.”
Serles was watching with several friends while workers scooped up the food and other merchandise in trash cans which were in turn, dumped into two waiting garbage bins that officials said were destined for the Richmond County Landfill.
“It’s a shame that they are just throwing all this stuff away and not even donating it to a shelter or anything,” she said.
Johanne Vargas, an agent for property manager FirstService Residential Realty based in Sandy Springs, Ga., said she was unable to discuss the matter when asked why the groceries were not donated.
Joseph Young, who helps run a youth mentoring program in the same shopping center as the supermarket, watched marshal’s stand guard as food was tossed into the trash.
“We could have gotten some of this stuff and done something special for the kids this weekend,” Young said.
Fortunately, the Food ended up being donated to the golden harvest food bank
However, this was not known at the time of the eviction and it was assumed that the food would go to waste, and the cops held back the poor anyways.
So still fuck the police.
Trigger Warning: Rape
Sorry I’m not sorry if you agree with the Steubenville rape trial sentence of only a few years in jail, or think that because someone is passed out when they were raped, you clearly have no idea how serious crimes like rape and sexual assault are and you have no idea what rape does to a person and you dont know how the vast majority of rapists just walk away unaffected while their victims suffer. You just dont get it so either educate yourself and listen to the victims before going along with whatever the bullshit news on your TV says.
